Easter Weekend Recap

I know it's a few days late, but I wanted to share our Easter weekend. Saturday was spent doing things around the house and enjoying the beautiful 80 degree weather we had. I made some fun Easter cookies that turned out super cute. I used these cookies as my inspiration, but I totally cheated and did NOT make home made cookies or frosting. I added green food color to white frosting, so that counts for something, right? Either way, they looked cute, tasted great, and were super easy, so I'd definitely make them again.

Sunday morning we headed to Muskegon and went to brunch with Kevin's Dad's side, lunch with my family, and then stopped at my mother-in-law's on the way home.

It was a busy day, but we got to spend time with lots of family and eat lots of good food. And we brought home WAY too much candy.

I'll be spending this week preparing for the half-marathon that I am running in this weekend. Wish me luck!

4th of July Weekend

I hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend! Ours was pretty great...except for the fact that our dog is terrified of fireworks, so that part wasn't too fun.

Kevin and I went out to dinner on Friday night to celebrate our anniversary. We went to a little Italian place that we had heard good things about, but neither of us had ever been to it. It did not disappoint! We ate way too much food and came home and passed out...we're getting old!

On Saturday, my mom and I spent the day at my Grandma's helping her with her yard sale and cleaning out her garage. It was a long day, but we got a lot done for her, so it was definitely productive. Not 5 minutes after we got home, Admiral heard fireworks, so he headed to the bathroom and got in the tub to try and hide. It was so sad! For some reason, he calms down if we go in the basement, so that's where we spent the rest of the night.

Sunday was my family's 4th of July party, so we headed to my Aunt & Uncle's house where we again, ate too much good food. We came home Sunday night and Kevin went and played cards with his friends, while Admiral and I spent the night in the basement since there were a bunch of fireworks.

The 4th was spent catching up blog reading (me), catching up on Game of Thrones (Kevin), yard work, laundry, cleaning, grilling, and of course, trying to calm a dog who hates fireworks.

How was your weekend? Did you spend time with family and friends? Did you eat too much food like we did?

Our Easter/Spring Home Decor

I don't have a ton of Easter/Spring decor, but I do like to add some touches of Spring to our home.  I would love to add more, but just haven't done that yet.  I need to hit some after season clearance sales this year to stock up for next year!  I have a few Easter DIYs that I did a couple of years ago that I am still loving.  So here is a little look in to our Easter and Spring decor:

I got these cute ceramic bunnies from my mom....she was cleaning out her Easter decor and getting rid of them, so I took them!
I love filling this lantern with different things depending on the holiday/season.

Easter Egg Wreath Tutorial HERE (don't mind that mine is missing an egg...it fell off and I haven't glued it back on yet haha)

Do you decorate for Easter and/or Spring?  Any great Spring DIYs I should do?

Weekend Recap: 4th of July!

Did anyone else struggle to get up and get going this morning?  I did NOT want to get out of bed!  Anyway, I hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend.  I didn't take many pictures of our weekend because I was too busy enjoying the time with family and friends.

FRIDAY:  Thursday night Kevin and I headed north to our parents'.  I went for a run Friday morning and then we got ready and headed to my family's party at my parents house.  We had burgers, hot dogs, brats, too many side dishes to name.  We had fun hanging out with my family and enjoying the gorgeous weather.  My mom had everything decorated super cute, include fresh red, white, and blue flowers in mason jar vases.

Friday night we had "steak night" at Kevin's mom's.  Kevin's brother grilled steak and shrimp, and again, we had tons of yummy side dishes.  We stuffed ourselves full, and then ended the night by playing Heads Up on my phone.  (It's a really fun game you can download for $0.99, trust me, you'll have hours of fun!)

SATURDAY:  My mom and I headed to the beach on Saturday, but we left after a couple of hours because it was cloudy, windy, and was actually kind of cold.  We hung out at my parent's for a little before I went and picked Kevin up, and we all went to a birthday party/cookout at a family friend's house.  We enjoyed more delicious food, great weather (it actually warmed up that night), and good company.

SUNDAY:  We hung out at Kevin's mom's for a while before heading back home.  Of course we hit major traffic, but luckily it was only bad for part of our drive.

How was your holiday weekend?
