Gender Reveal: It's A.....

We didn't do a gender reveal party, because we were too excited and didn't want to wait! We found out during an ultrasound last week and immediately told our family and friends. So with out further delay....

Baby Long is a GIRL! Kevin and I had both thought it was a girl from early on, so we weren't too surprised. It makes it so much more real to be able to call her a "her" or "she" instead of "it" or "the baby." She also has a name: Finley Marie Long <3 We can't wait to meet you baby girl!

Bumpdate: 20 Weeks

Halfway! This pregnancy is flying by, and I know the last 20ish weeks are going to go even quicker.

How many weeks: 20
Symptoms: Feeling more and more kicks/movement. Kevin was able to feel a kick for the first time last night!
Baby Bump: Getting bigger. I used to have my belly button pierced, and even though I took the belly button ring out several years ago, the hole never closed. Now, it's pretty flat, you can't really see the hole any more. So weird.
Food Cravings/Aversions: None.
What else is going on: Had my 20 week appointment at the doctor yesterday. Heartbeat was in the 140s. The doctor would pick up the heartbeat on one side of my stomach, then it would move to the other side. It was like the baby was trying to move away every time. It made me laugh a little...stubborn already. Hoping to get our ultrasound scheduled in the next week so we can find out the gender!

I did my last 5k at 19 weeks (Riverbank Run). My goal was to run the entire time, which I did, so I was happy about that. Now I just need to get in the routine of working out/running more consistently. I'm trying to take advantage of the fact that I feel great right now.

Hoping to work on cleaning out our office this weekend so we can start making it the nursery. Things are getting more and more real!

My First Tattoo

I've always thought about getting a tattoo, but was never very serious about it until a few years ago. I decided it was something I wanted to do, kind of a "bucket list" item for me, I guess. But I had two problems:

1. I didn't know where I wanted it (on my body).
2. I had no idea what I wanted it to be.

Kind of big things to figure out, right? So I just kept it in the back of my mind. About a year ago, I decided that I loved little wrist tattoos, so that's where I wanted to get mine. I liked that it was something I could see, but could also easily cover up if I needed to.

Now to the other problem; what to get. I wanted it be something with meaning, not something that I just thought was cool. I'm really in to arrows, I think they are super cute, especially a little wrist arrow tattoo. But I worried that in 5 or 10 years, I might not think it's cute anymore. I wanted something that would always have meaning. When Kevin and I decided to run a marathon last year, we both decided we wanted to get a tattoo of our accomplishment after the race.

I browsed Pinterest and decided I wanted a roman numeral of 26.2 (total miles of a marathon) on my wrist. So last October, a few days after we completed the Grand Rapids Marathon, we both went and got tattoos!

Right after getting it done.

Kevin's tattoo

It's been over six month and I still love my tattoo. Small and simple, but has a huge meaning. I have no plans of getting another one any time soon, but I'm not opposed to it either.

Bumpdate: 18 Weeks

How many weeks: 18
Symptoms: Just getting up to go to the bathroom 1-2 times every night.
Baby Bump: Can't hide it any more! Just ordered more maternity clothes to help me get through the summer.
Food Cravings/Aversions: No aversions any more, and no cravings yet. Just hungry all the time.
What else is going on: Felt the first little kicks/movement! I can't wait until they are strong enough for Kevin to feel them from the outside.

Only a few more weeks until we know if this baby is a boy or girl. We can't wait to find out!

I ran another 5k at 17 weeks and felt great...even ran it faster than the last one. The race was super fun. It was in Detroit and we got to finish on Comerica Park and walk around the field. I have another 5k coming up this weekend, and that's the last race I have during this pregnancy. Although I plan to continue running as long as I feel good.

17 weeks

We also went to a 40th Anniversary party and a 40th Birthday party at 18 weeks. Baby's first time on a carriage ride ;)

Feeling very grateful that I feel good and am having an uneventful pregnancy so far!

Bumpdate: Week 16

Almost caught up on these! I'm actually 17 weeks right now, so after next week's bumpdate, they should finally be in real time :) Links at the end of the post to catch up on past bumpdates.

How many weeks: 16
Symptoms: Not many symptoms except my growing belly. I'm feeling pretty great!
Baby Bump: Definitely there all the time now.
Food Cravings/Aversions: No aversions any more, and no cravings yet.
What else is going on: Feeling pretty good. I ran my first 5k race (since being pregnant) at 16 weeks and it went pretty well. It was slow for sure, but I felt good and am looking forward to continuing to run while I still feel good. Got to hear the baby's heartbeat again at my 16 week appointment. This time it was 154, so starting to slow down a little. Not a whole lot going on right now, but I'm good with that!
