Bumpdate: Week 14

Still a couple of weeks behind on these, but I'll catch up soon!

How many weeks: 14
Symptoms: Finally not feeling nauseous all the time! And starting to get some energy back. Kevin even said one night, "wow, you're staying up later now." It basically means I wasn't going to bed at 8:00 pm every night. My jeans definitely don't fit anymore, so it's maternity jeans, leggings, or sweatpants all the time. I just need the weather to warm up so I can wear leggings and dresses all the time.
Baby Bump: Starting to be noticeable, especially after I eat :)
Food Cravings/Aversions: Aversions are pretty much gone, which means I'm finally able to eat chicken again. Weirdly, walking around the meat area of the grocery store still kind of grosses me out Something about seeing all of the raw meat. No real cravings yet. Just hungry all the time.
What else is going on: We told our parents and siblings at 8 weeks, at 12 weeks we told the rest of our family, and we told the rest of the world at 13 weeks. So glad to finally be able to talk about it! We got to hear the heartbeat for the first time at 12 weeks. I can't believe the first trimester is over already. That went by FAST.

Weekend Recap: Traverse City

This weekend we headed up to Traverse City for a night, to celebrate our friend's birthday. We spent the weekend eating, shopping, gambling (aka losing), and laughing. It was a beautiful weekend to get away up north with friends. I've never actually been to downtown Traverse City, and now I can't wait to go back.

brunch at Red Spire
wine tasting

Nolan's Cigar Bar

trying on fun hats

flower crown for the win
fountain that was full of snow, but decorated for summer

cheers with the birthday girl

sunset views from our hotel

i loved all of the cool floors in the shops downtown

We got home from Traverse City Saturday night, and Sunday morning I was up early to run a 5k race with my sister. For not running much at all, I felt pretty good. Now that I'm in the second trimester, I have energy again and can't wait to start running a little more.

Why are weekends never long enough?

Bumpdate: Weeks 5-12 + FAQs

I'm planning to do a "bumpdate" post every couple of weeks. I'm actually 15 weeks right now, but I'm playing catch up, so today I'm sharing all about weeks 5-12 by answering some of the common questions I've been getting.

When are you due?
October 7, 2018

How did you find out?
I had been having some weird "symptoms" for about a week or two, but I didn't really think I was pregnant. I had heart palpitations every morning for about 4 days straight, heartburn (which I've never had in my life), and when I got sick with a cold, I was SO tired. Never been so tired in my life. Every time I googled these things, pregnancy always came up. So one night when Kevin was at a Wild Game Dinner with friends, I took a test, just to see. So I went to the store and bought more haha. And those were positive too! I think I was around 5 weeks when I found out. We had our first doctor's appointment at 8 weeks to confirm, and then had our first ultrasound a few days later.

How did you tell Kevin?
While Kevin was gone at the Wild Game Dinner, I found one of Admiral's bandanas and wrote "I'm Going to Be a Big Brother!" on it. Admiral doesn't wear bandanas unless it's a special occasion, so when Kevin got home, he immediately noticed he was wearing one, but didn't notice what it said, so I had to tell him to read it. He initially thought maybe we were getting another puppy, but he quickly caught on :)

Are you going to find out the gender?
YES! We can't wait to find out if it's a little boy or girl. We both think girl for some reason, so we'll see! We aren't having a gender reveal party, it's not really our style.

How have you been feeling?
Overall, pretty good. I can't complain too much. Around week 7 I started feeling nauseous, but I never threw up, so I'm super thankful for that. I learned that I just had to have snacks with me at all times, because when I started to get hungry, I would get nauseous. Thankfully, that is going away and I'm not noticing it as much. I was also really tired from about weeks 7-14, but that seems to be getting better too. I've started running and working out again, and I'm not going to bed at 8:30 pm every night. Overall, I feel pretty good!

Do you have names picked out?
Not yet. We think we might have settled on a girl name, but not a boy name. Once we find out the gender, we'll decide names for sure. And once we decide, we'll be sharing with everyone.

We are just super thankful for a healthy pregnancy and so excited to meet this little one in October!

If you have any questions I didn't answer, just ask. I'm happy to answer them.

Stairway Gallery Wall

I'm obsessed with gallery walls. I want to put one on every wall in my house, but I know that's a little much, so I only have a few. For now. One of my gallery walls is on our stairway wall that leads to our upstairs. It started out as just wedding photos in black frames, but I've slowly been changing it up a little. And after sharing our news this weekend, I'm sure it will change even more in the coming months and years.

This gallery wall now includes engagement photos, wedding photos, and some other photos we've had done. When Canvas Press reached out to me about reviewing one of their canvases, I knew I wanted to add it to my stairway gallery wall. The 16x20 canvas from our fall photos a couple of years ago is the perfect addition to this wall. I still want to add more, but I'm loving the way it's coming together so far.

(This is the most difficult wall to try and photograph. No good angles and no good lighting.)

I would definitely order from Canvas Press in the future. The order process was super easy, shipping was quick, and the quality was great. I can't wait to keep adding to this gallery wall around my new canvas!

*Canvas Press sent me the canvas for free, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.*
