Splendid Swap Party

A few weeks ago, while reading Meg's blog, Borrowed Heaven, I decided to sign up for a Spendid Swap Party that she was hosting with some other great ladies.

Borrowed Heaven

I got paired up with Dannielle from Quite Dainty.  I stalked her blog a little and then went shopping for some summer items.  To see what I got Dannielle, you'll have to head over to her blog and check it out!

Dannielle's gifts to me were so perfect and I love the way she labeled each thing as to why she picked it for me!

These are the items that were in the super cute mason jar mug.
The nail polish color is PERFECT, and I can't wait to try the eye liner!

Thanks Dannielle for such thoughtful gifts!  I had been wanting a mason jar mug for a while, so this is perfect!  I am totally stocking my purse and beach bag with many of these items to enjoy this summer.

Intentional Life Project (June Linkup)

Message from Ginny:  Well, my friends. This is a bittersweet moment. Back in January I had a (seemingly) brilliant idea to create the Intentional Life Project. I was joined by the amazing Bre (see her new blog here!) and it took off running! And, that's it. It never picked up traction and never got off the ground. We have had a few faithful followers - and I am so thankful for them! But, I am sad to say the project is coming to an end. This is the last month - so please link up as a final farewell!

June's Intentional Life Project topic was time with your loved one/spouse.  My goal was to spend some quality time with my husband three nights a week.  I know this might not sound like a lot, but we are really busy in the summer, so we don't spend as much quality time together.  Kevin plays softball two nights a week on a men's team and we play together on a co-ed team once a week, so those nights are full of softball and hanging out with friends.  We usually have something going on almost every weekend in the summer, so a lot of our weekends are shot as far as quality time together.  We know that summer is busy and we both have fun and we enjoy time spent with friends and family, but sometimes it's good to have time to hang out with just the two of us.

We didn't do as good with this goal this month as I would have liked, but the next month or two looks a little better...it's not quite as busy.  And Sunday is our one year anniversary, so we have a whole day planned of quality time with each other :)

The Intentional Life Project is a community where we can hold each other accountable for our personal goals – whether they are small or super life-changing. We want this to be an easy, feasible, way for each of you to tackle those goals that mean the most to you.

Running Update (and cute workout clothes)

A couple of weeks ago, I posted about how I was finally starting to enjoy running.  About the time I posted that, I started having some pain in my left heel.  It gradually got worse and there were a couple of days where it was awful.  I asked some of my running friends if it was "normal."  I thought since I had started running more, it was just sore and had to get used to me running.  After some people thought it could be heel spurs or plantar fasciitis, I decided to call the doctor and get it looked at.  I also stopped running.  By the time I got in to the doctor, I hadn't ran in 5 days and it was actually feeling better.  Luckily, the doctor didn't think it was plantar fasciitis and I had an x-ray done to rule out heel spurs or a fracture.  She told me not to run for a full week, so I gave it 10 days.  My heel feels pretty much back to normal now and I've started running again (yay!).

The point of that whole story was that, again, I realized that I am enjoying running.  I missed running during those 10 days of letting my foot rest.  I did a couple of easy workouts at home during that time, but I really missed the running part.  I'm so glad I'm back at it now and pretty much pain free--hoping it stays that way!

Now that I've been running more, I think it totally justifies some cute workout clothes, right?  Please convince my husband of that :)  So here are some cute workout clothes that I'm drooling over right now.  Everything except the shoes can be found at Old Navy.  I'm a big fan of their active wear and their prices!

Weekend Recap: 50th Birthday Party

This weekend was spent getting ready for and having a 50th birthday party for my mother-in-law.  Her birthday was Thursday but the party was Saturday.  I worked on Friday and then headed to my mother-in-law's to help get everything ready.  The party was great.  There was way too much good food, lots of laughs, and lots of games of boccie ball and ladder ball.

After the party was over and everything was cleaned up, we went to the movies and saw 22 Jumpstreet.  I thought it was really good--I pretty much laughed the entire time!  We headed home Sunday afternoon and did some yard work and laundry before relaxing for the night.  Admiral was pretty tired, so he spent all of Sunday napping after we got home.

Hope you had a great weekend!

Five on Friday

Happy Friday everyone!  It's been a rainy week here in Michigan, but the weekend forecast looks nice, so I'm hoping to be able to get outside and enjoy it.  Today's Five on Friday is totally random--you've been warned.

ONE.  On Tuesday night, Kevin and I went and saw Aloe Blacc and Bruno Mars in concert.  It was one of the best concerts I have ever been to!  If you ever get the chance to see Bruno Mars in concert, you have to go--it was so awesome!  Non-stop singing and dancing (from Bruno and the crowd), his band is excellent, and just the entire show in general was great.  Here's a few pics from the night:

TWO.  Tomorrow we are having a 50th Birthday party for my mother-in-law.  Can't wait to share some of the details next week!

THREE.  Admiral is three years old, and over the past year, he has become terrified of loud noises, such as fireworks, gunshots, thunder, etc.  He instantly tucks his tail, starts shaking, and either climbs on my lap, or heads to the basement.  Yesterday, someone on our street was doing some kind of fireworks, so Admiral headed for the basement and wouldn't come up.  Anyone else's pet afraid of loud noises?  Any ideas to help him?

FOUR.  I'm trying to eat a little healthier again, so the other day I made a quinoa, chickpea, and avocado salad and it's really good!  You can find the recipe HERE on SkinnyTaste.com.

FIVE.  My one-year wedding anniversary is in nine days!  That year definitely flew by!

Have a great weekend!!

Weekend Recap

Hope your weekend was great and you were able to enjoy some nice weather!

FRIDAY:  We just hung out at home on Friday night.  I know, we live such an exciting life ;)

SATURDAY:  Saturday morning we took admiral to a "Doodle Romp."  Let me explain.  We got Admiral from Kevin's mom.  She has a Goldendoodle who had four litters of puppies.  One of the other people who has one of the puppies invited all of the dogs (and owners) from the litters over for a "Doodle Romp" in their big back yard.  So we took Admiral for about an hour on Saturday and he had a great time playing with the other dogs.

When we got home, we watched my friend's dogs for a few hours, so Admiral got to play some more.  They were all pretty tired after an hour outside.  While the dogs played, I weeded and cleaned out the flower bed in the back yard.  Saturday night we went to a cookout at a friend's house.

SUNDAY:  We headed to my Dad's for lunch on Sunday and hung out there for a while before heading to Kevin's Dad's for dinner.  We enjoyed spending some time with both of our Dads on Father's Day.  We got home late, so we just headed to bed!

Happy Monday--have a great week!
