Top Five Photos

Today, Andrea from Momfessionals, is hosting a Show & Tell link up. Today's topic is your top five photos of all time. Well, since there is no way I could ever decide my top five photos, I decided I'd share my five favorite photos of Admiral. It seems like it's been a while since I've dedicated a post to him, so I thought this would be a good opportunity. And who doesn't like seeing cute dog photos? So here they are, in no particular order:

his face just cracks me up in this one...he's obviously annoyed with me

had to include a puppy pic!

And that quickly got out of control and turned in to way more than five. But I couldn't choose just five, and I figured you wouldn't mind if I threw in more :) Make sure you head over to Andrea's blog to see everyone else's top photos!

Happy 5th Birthday Admiral!

I can't believe it, but Admiral turns 5 today! Well I guess he's actually 35...but 5 to us :) The past 5 years have gone by so fast. Since 5 is kind of a milestone (or just an excuse for me to do something special), I ordered a super cute pupcake from Dogwood Barkery for Admiral to enjoy. They did such a cute job and even decorated the box for him!

He's also been spoiled with a new football, tennis balls, t-shirt, and treats. Happy Birthday to our fur baby!

Happy 4th Birthday Admiral!

On Sunday, Admiral turned four.  I can't believe this furry face has been with us for four years already.  We love him more than we ever thought possible!  Admiral got lots of hugs, kisses, treats, and even a slice of pizza on his birthday weekend...he's not spoiled at all.  But I mean, look at that face and those big brown eyes!

My Dog Looks Like A Cow

This might be the most random thing ever, but I'm sharing it anyway.  One day I randomly (probably on Pinterest) came across a picture of a fluffy cow.  So I googled fluffy cow and found a few more pictures (they are actually called Highland Cattle).  I immediately thought OMG Admiral looks like those cows!  So I thought I'd share some comparisons and let you be the judge.

Example 3:

So what do you think?  Does Admiral look like those fluffy cows?  I know they aren't twins or anything, but I definitely see the resemblance :)

Five on Friday

Happy Friday everyone!  It's been a rainy week here in Michigan, but the weekend forecast looks nice, so I'm hoping to be able to get outside and enjoy it.  Today's Five on Friday is totally random--you've been warned.

ONE.  On Tuesday night, Kevin and I went and saw Aloe Blacc and Bruno Mars in concert.  It was one of the best concerts I have ever been to!  If you ever get the chance to see Bruno Mars in concert, you have to go--it was so awesome!  Non-stop singing and dancing (from Bruno and the crowd), his band is excellent, and just the entire show in general was great.  Here's a few pics from the night:

TWO.  Tomorrow we are having a 50th Birthday party for my mother-in-law.  Can't wait to share some of the details next week!

THREE.  Admiral is three years old, and over the past year, he has become terrified of loud noises, such as fireworks, gunshots, thunder, etc.  He instantly tucks his tail, starts shaking, and either climbs on my lap, or heads to the basement.  Yesterday, someone on our street was doing some kind of fireworks, so Admiral headed for the basement and wouldn't come up.  Anyone else's pet afraid of loud noises?  Any ideas to help him?

FOUR.  I'm trying to eat a little healthier again, so the other day I made a quinoa, chickpea, and avocado salad and it's really good!  You can find the recipe HERE on SkinnyTaste.com.

FIVE.  My one-year wedding anniversary is in nine days!  That year definitely flew by!

Have a great weekend!!

Weekend Recap: Happy Birthday Admiral!

The Admiral turned THREE on Saturday!  I can't believe he is three already.  He definitely still has some puppy energy, but he also loves to cuddle and is just a great a dog in general.  We love this furry little guy so much!!

We started the birthday celebrations Friday night by going to McDonald's to get him a small vanilla ice cream cone.  And me a Shamrock Shake :)

Saturday morning we played a little football in the backyard with his new football we got him.  He loves Nerf footballs...but he destroys them.  So he gets a new one every year and the old one gets thrown away.

Saturday night we gave him a meaty rawhide bone which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Sunday was spent at church, and then doing laundry and other things around the house.  Kevin also had to shovel because we got more snow this weekend...I swear it's never going to end.

We have a pretty busy week coming up, but then I'm looking forward to getting some work done in the kitchen this weekend!

What were you up to this weekend?

Admiral's Different "Styles"

Kevin and I are going to Chicago for the weekend, so my parents are watching Admiral for us.  They are also dropping him off at the groomer’s for a much needed bath and hair cut while we are gone.  This got me thinking about all of the different “looks” Admiral has had over the past few years.

Admiral is a Goldendoodle, and he doesn’t shed (it’s amazing), but we do get him groomed about every 2-3 months.  It took us about a year to figure out the right grooming schedule.  When his hair gets too long, it gets matted very easily.  Even if we brush him, it still happens.  I’m at the point where I can just tell when he needs a cut.  We take him to this great little place near our hometown and it’s $50 for a bath and cut (haven’t found it cheaper anywhere else) and we LOVE the place.  They love on Admiral like he is their own, and when he’s done with his grooming, he gets to just hang out until we pick him up (doesn’t get put in a crate).

Anyway, like I said, he’s had some interesting cuts.  The earlier ones are the most interesting, because it’s when we were still figuring out the whole grooming schedule thing.  Sometimes we would take him for his hair cut and he would be so matted that parts of his body had to be cut shorter than others.  We don’t make that mistake anymore.  But it sure is fun looking back at the pictures at all of his different styles!

When he was a puppy, his fur wasn't long, so no worries.  We just gave him a bath and brushed him at home as needed.

As he started getting bigger, his fur started growing.  We'd have to brush him a lot, and I would trim the hair around his eyes so he could see.

This is on the way home from his first bath and brush at a groomers (Petsmart).

This is after a bad hair cut (not at our current groomer), which is probably my fault.  He was so matted on his "chin" that they had to cut all of that hair really short...so his "beard" was gone and he looked so funny!  And they cut his ears really short, and I like them long.

This is his first "big boy" hair cut at the groomer we currently go to.  They actually used him in a grooming competition they attended in Chicago, because he behaves so well when they cut his hair :)  This was the style they did for the competition.  Like his bell-bottoms?

Another fresh hair cut.  His hair is always so soft and straight after a grooming session.

And of course, long and shaggy :)  Which is about what he looks like right now.  His fur being this long in the winter is hard...even though it keeps him warm, the snow gets stuck in it really easily, so he gets little snowballs that take a long time to melt.

I'll leave you with one final picture...this is my mother-in-law's dog with his Lion hair cut (he's actually Admiral's brother, just from a different litter).  Isn't that awesome?

Do you take your dog to a groomer?  Have they ever had any interesting hair cuts?
