Weekend Recap: Cincinnati!

I'm a day late with my weekend recap because I spent all day yesterday recovering from a fun weekend in Cincinnati.  Kevin's brother and his wife live in Cincinnati.  We met Kevin's cousin and his girlfriend there, and Kevin's mom was already down there (she went down a few days earlier).

FRIDAY:  Kevin had to work, but I had the day off.  I had an eye doctor appointment in the morning, and then I took Admiral to my parents' where he was staying for the weekend.  I came home and packed my stuff, a cooler, and snacks for the road.  I picked Kevin up from work at 5:00 p.m. and we headed to Cincinnati.  After a long drive full of rain and road construction, we made it there around 11:30 p.m. that night.  Even though the drive wasn't ideal, we did see a truck with giant pumpkins on it, which made it a little more fun!

SATURDAY:  We got up early and headed to Findlay Market for breakfast and to check everything out.  We went to an early lunch at a delicious Mexican restaurant and then headed to the Cincinnati Zoo.  It was chilly that day, but the Cincinnati Zoo is awesome, so we had fun walking around for a few hours.

We went to Boi Na Braza for dinner (ate way too much) and then headed to the University of Cincinnati football game.  Cincinnati did not play well and it was cold, but I had a blast.  And that checked one thing off of my fall bucket list--go to a football game!  Even though it was a college game, they played at the Cincinnati Bengals stadium, so that was cool to be in an NFL stadium,

SUNDAY:  After a long day on Saturday, we all slept in a little and then went bowling before going to Joe's Crab Shack for lunch.

After lunch, we loaded up the car and headed home.  Once again, we had a great time in Cincinnati!  Thank you to Chris and Lisa for being such great hosts, as always!

How was your weekend?  I'm looking forward to catching up on some blog reading this week to see what you were up to.

Weekend Recap: Cincinnati

I hope you all enjoyed your Memorial Day weekend.  We spent ours in Cincinnati visiting Kevin's brother and his wife.

FRIDAY:  We left at 6:00 a.m. to make the 6 hour drive to Cincinnati.  We actually made it in about 5.5 hours because there was zero traffic, so that was great.  When we arrived in Cincinnati, we headed to Jersey Mike's for lunch and then spent a little time at the casino.  Kevin and I lost quickly, so we grabbed some Starbucks and then walked around the casino until everyone else was ready to go.

For dinner on Friday night, we headed to one of my favorite places, Joe's Crab Shack.  I love seafood, and we don't have a Joe's anywhere near us, so I love going there whenever I get the chance.  I got the Orleans steampot, which includes shrimp, crawfish, corn on the cob, sausage, and potatoes.  It's my favorite.  I also ordered a super yummy drink that I can't wait to try and recreate this summer.  It was called Fireball Punch.  Sooooo yummy!

SATURDAY:  We got up early Saturday and headed to Graeter's for some breakfast and then went to the zoo.  We always have fun at the zoo and the weather was perfect for walking around outside!  After the zoo, we walked down to Taste of Cincinnati for lunch.

After lunch, us girls went and got manis/pedis and did a little shopping while the boys went golfing.

Saturday night we went to the Red's baseball game.  They didn't win, but it was a fun game and again, perfect baseball weather!

SUNDAY:  We went to an early movie on Sunday and saw X-Men: Days of Future Past.  It was really good and made me want to go back and watch all of the old ones.  We went to Taste of Cincinnati for lunch again so that we could try the rest of the things that we didn't get to on Saturday.  Saturday afternoon we made a trip to Ikea (we got two new nightstands-yay!) and then headed to dinner at Pompilios.  They have amazing Italian food.  And the best Spinach & Artichoke dip I've ever had.

MONDAY:  Us girls went shopping for a little bit before we all went to Hot Head Burrito for lunch.  After lunch we said our goodbyes and started our 6 hour car ride back home.  Thankfully, traffic was bad on the way home.  I had to go pick up Admiral from my parents after we got back, so that put me in the car for almost another 2 hours.  It was a long day of driving, but was totally worth it for such a fun weekend in Cincinnati!

Weekend Recap...Cincinnati Style! Part 2

You can find part 1 of my Memorial Day weekend recap here.  Prepare for picture overload in this post!

Sunday morning we got up and went to the Horseshoe Casino.  It's a new casino in downtown Cincinnati that just opened not too long ago.  Too bad we all didn't come back winners!

For lunch on Sunday we went to Taste of Cincinnati.  We tried so many AMAZING foods, but here are some of my favorites:

Dill Pickle Chips - probably my favorite thing.

Giant Cream Puff - and it was HUGE!

Deep Friend Peanut Butter & Jelly.  This what Kevin was most excited about.
Drew, Lisa, Chris, and Kevin enjoying their PB&J's!
Tons of people downtown for Taste of Cincinnati.

After Taste of Cincinnati, we headed to the Cincinnati Reds v. Chicago Cubs game.  It was a perfect day for a baseball game!  The Reds ended up losing in extra innings, but it was still a fun game.

Perfect day for beer and baseball!

After the game we went to Hofbrauhaus for dinner.  It's a German restaurant (if you couldn't tell from the name) and it was a really cool place.  The food was excellent and the atmosphere was fun too.  I was so hungry, that I totally devoured my food before I even thought to take any pics.  But trust me, everything was amazing!

On Monday morning we went to the Cincinnati Zoo.  We love going to the zoo when we go to Cincinnati :)

After the zoo we went to Maggiano's for lunch and again, ate way too much!  They had great bread, pasta, and dessert.  We couldn't even finish it all.  After lunch we headed home.  It was a long, rainy, 6 hour drive home but totally worth it after all of the fun we had over the weekend.

Thank you Chris and Lisa for always showing us a great time when we come down to visit and for letting us stay with you!

Hope your Memorial Day weekend was as great as mine!
