Five on Friday: Yard Ideas

On Tuesday I shared what our yard/outdoor space looks like (if you missed it, you can find that post HERE).  Today for Five on Friday, I'm sharing five things I'd like to do to improve our yard.  We really do love our yard, but of course, I'm always finding things on Pinterest that I'd love to incorporate to make it even better!

I'm linking up with ChristinaDarciApril, and Natasha and you should too!

ONE.  Make some kind of portable beverage station that we could keep in the shed and bring out when we have people over.  How cute is this one from Lil Luna?

TWO.  Our deck is low to the ground and has just one step.  I'd love to add more outdoor lighting, including some fun lights on the step like this photo below.  This is one of the ideas that will probably never happen, but something that I'd love to do!

Add Stair Lights - Stair lights not only look great but will help prevent accidents as the natural light diminishes

THREE.  One thing on our list for this summer is to stain our deck.  I think I want to do a dark stain, but we haven't even started looking at colors yet.  We better get on it, because June is half over already!  View Along the Way has a great tutorial on how to stain your deck (and some great "tools" to use).

FOUR.  We've already created a new flower bed area in our back yard, but I'd still like to edge our other flower beds with some type of brick.  I love the way the brick is laid in the photo below, because then the lawn mower can mow all the way to the edge and you wouldn't have to use the weed whacker/trimmer next to all of the brick.

Cool brick edging. You can run the wheel of the lawn mower on it so you dont have to use the weed wacker!

FIVE.  I'd love to add some white railing to our front "porch."  It's not really a porch, just a couple steps leading up to our front door.  Right now, there is no railing on those fronts steps, so I'd like to add one.  I think it would give it a more finished look.  I love the look of the white railing on the steps in the photo below.  This is something that probably won't happen for a while, but it's definitely on my list!

  1. Cute ideas!! We reallyyyyy need to stain our deck too! It's a big deck so we've definitely been procrastinating on that project! Not a fan of staining spindles!!

  2. Ooooh I REALLY want that 2nd deck with the cool lighting, but for now I think the lining for the flower beds is a more reasonable goal for me! Love all of these though!

  8. I love the deck idea! I've painted our deck and it looks great. I try to paint it once a year though. Only because the weather sucks, haha. I love Pinterest & I could be on it for hours! I'm stopping by from the blog hop & I hope your having a great day.
