Weekend Recap: MooseFest & Family

You know you had a great weekend when it's over in the blink of an eye.  This past week was another good one!  I got up early and headed to my parents' to meet up with my mom and my aunt.  We headed to MooseFest, which is a free country concert that a local radio station puts on every year.  They had a great lineup this year which included: Ten-Cent Heroes, Kari Lynch, Logan Mize, Mickey Guyton, Josh Dorr, Brothers Osborne, Michael Ray, and Thompson Square.  It was hot and sunny, as it always is, but we had a great time!

Our traditional breakfast of pretzels and beer!

Funny story...this couple won a "free" wedding from the radio station, so we all got to see them get married before the concert started haha.

On Sunday we had a cook-out at my parents' because some of my family were in town from Texas/Louisiana.  We had a great time eating, catching up, and playing yard games.  And then all of a sudden it was Monday!  But that's how it always goes...the best weekends never last long enough.

Lately...

Lately I've been...

- Obsessing over my peonies that are blooming.  I wish they could last all summer.  I have pink and white ones.  A few more open every day, and there are tons of buds left on the plants, so I'm excited to have my house smelling like peonies for the next couple of weeks.

- Getting excited for Birthday Bash this weekend!  You can read about past Birthday Bash's HERE and HERE.  Basically it's a free two day country concert (you pay for parking and food, but the tickets are free) that the local radio station puts on.  This year's artists on day one include Dierks Bentley, Colt Ford, Jerrod Niemann, Parmalee, Eric Paslay, and Lucy Hale.  Day two is Justin Moore, Brett Eldredge, Cole Swindell, Chase Rice, Will Hoge, Danielle Bradbery, and The Cadillac Three.

My Aunt Liz, me, my mom, and my sister at last year's Birthday Bash.
- Enjoying the beautiful weather we've been having here in Michigan!  It's a little chilly and rainy today, but we've had some gorgeous temps and lots of sunshine.  Admiral has loved spending more time outside and playing is his pool...but he gets the water really dirty, really fast.  It's kind of gross.  But he loves it, so I'm ok with it :)

What have you been up to lately?

I Can't Wait for Summer Because...

I'm linking up with The Daily Tay and Helene in Between for the "I Can't Wait For Summer Because" linkup.  It sounded like the perfect way to get myself ready for some warmer weather...even though I think it might never happen.  So anyway, here it goes:

I CAN'T WAIT FOR SUMMER BECAUSE...

...Birthday Bash takes place June 7 & 8.  Two full days of country music.  Need I say more?

...I can finally sit on the deck and enjoy an ice cold beverage while wearing shorts and flip flops.  Not a winter coat and mittens.

...my one year wedding anniversary is June 29!

...days at the beach are like Heaven on Earth.

....I can get fresh veggies from my parents garden.

...baseball is back!  Ok, so it's actually back in less than two weeks, but you know what I mean.

...my yard will be full of pretty flowers instead of giant snow banks.

What about you?  Why can't you wait for summer??

It's Birthday Bash Weekend!!!

This weekend is one that I look forward to every year.  It's Birthday Bash!  Birthday Bash is a free country concert that is put on by a local radio station, 93.7, and it is two days full of country music!  Did I mention that tickets are FREE?  You just pay for parking and anything you eat and drink while you are there.  In anticipation of this year's bash, I thought I'd explain what happens at Birthday Bash....

You can start parking at 8:00 a.m....so we are usually in line by 7:30 a.m. to park.  Gates don't open until 10 a.m., so you sit in line all morning and hang out...and take pictures.

Gates open at 10 a.m., the music starts at Noon and goes until about 10 p.m.  You try to sneak in a short nap before the music starts and in between acts.  It's a LONG two days, so naps are necessary:

It always seems to be about 85+ degrees and sunny, so you have to apply sunscreen (you'll see in other pics I didn't apply enough sometimes and got a little burned).

You get to spend quality time with family,

And meet some new friends.

Of course you have to do some singing and dancing...

This is why you apply sunscreen...

And sometimes you get a little drunk crazy.

Now I know what you're thinking....that all sounds fun, but who do you get to see at this FREE two-day concert?  Well let me show you just a sampling of artists I've seen in past years...

Dierks Bentley

Eric Church

Gary Allan

Josh Turner

Thompson Square

Darius Rucker

Jake Owen
Justin Moore
And that's just to name a few!  You can find this year's line up here.

I'll have a full re-cap of this year's bash next week, but I just wanted to give you a preview of what you're missing out on if you aren't going to be there.  If you live in or near Michigan and love country music...this is the place to be!  Thank you B93 for throwing this awesome concert for your listeners!
