Finley: One Year

I still can't believe this girl is one whole year old already. It's true, time goes by way too fast. She started walking three days before her first birthday and now we rarely ever see her crawl. She's still a great sleeper and takes two naps. Now drinks whole milk and eats all of the things. Girl LOVES to eat. We gave her shrimp for the first time the other night and she ate seven of them (along with the rest of her dinner). I can't wait to see how much she grows and changes over the next year, but I'd really like it if time would slow down!

Our Little Pumpkin is One!!

We celebrated Finley's first birthday last weekend (on her actual birthday) and it was so wonderful! Our theme was "Our Little Pumpkin is Turning One" and I went all out with all things fall for her party. I figured I better do all the things I want until she starts having an opinion. We had the party at our house (only three weeks after we moved in - we are nuts) and the weather cooperated so people could be inside or outside.

We had veggies & dip, a chili bar, cornbread muffins, and hot dogs and mac n cheese for the kiddos. My sister-in-law did some fall flavored mini cupcakes (pumpkin, apple, and s'mores), and I ordered Finley's smash cake from The Cake Girl. Everything turned out great and Finley is definitely spoiled loved. Thanks to everyone who helped make the party a success and to everyone who came out to celebrate Finley's first birthday with us! And thanks to my sister for taking pics all day for us!

Thoughts on Being 30

Last Sunday I turned 30. Everyone has been asking me how it feels to be 30. Honestly, it doesn't feel any different than it did to be 29. Or 28. It all just feels the same. Except now I have to check a different box for age groups when I enter races. But that's about it.

Even though I don't feel different, I definitely feel like the last 10+ years flew by. I mean, has it really been 14 years since I got my driver's license? 12 years since I "officially" became an adult? 9 years since I could legally drink? What have I been doing all of these years???

Then I thought about it, I did a lot during my twenties.

Moved to a new city.

Became a fur mom.

Got engaged.

Bought a house.

Got married.

Changed jobs a few times.

And now, here we are. I'm 30. My twenties were pretty great, so I'm looking to forward to what the next decade has to offer. Bring it on 30!

Birthday Weekend

Saturday was my 29th birthday, and I made sure to celebrate all weekend long :)

Friday night we had a cook out at our house, which actually wasn't related at all to my birthday...it just ended up being one of the only nights we had free this summer to do it. We had about 20 people over and we ate, drank, played games, and hung out until late. It was a perfect night.

Since we were up late, Kevin and I slept in on Saturday, which was a great way to start my birthday. Then we headed to the Muskegon area for the day. I had planned on going to the beach, but it didn't really warm up until ate afternoon, and it was a little cloudy, so I just laid out on my parents' deck and soaked up the sun there. My mom made me my favorite meal for dinner (her homemade sloppy joes and macaroni & cheese). She also made me mini carrot cake cheesecakes for dessert, because carrot cake is my favorite. My mom is the best!

A few family members came over to hang out and celebrate and we ended up having a bon fire at my parents before we headed home.

Kevin and I went to lunch on Sunday to one of our favorite places in Grand Rapids: Houlihan's. Then we went and saw Secret Life of Pets. We were both disappointed in the movie. We thought it was going to be funnier than it was. It was ok, but not great. I was just happy to have a date day with my husband :)

Another great birthday in the books. Now I have a year to prepare myself for turning the big 3-0!

Birthday Wish List

Since my birthday is next Thursday, I thought I would share my Birthday Wish List...you know, just in case anyone is in the giving mood :)

Birthday Wish List 2015

1.  Sperry Cherubfish Mariner Shoes.  I've wanted a pair of Sperry's for a while now, and I love these!  I already told my husband I wanted these, and they are on sale for $70 (instead of $90), so I'm hoping they show up for my birthday :)

2.  Kendra Scott 'Parker' Stud Earrings.  I need some cute gold stud earrings and I think these would be perfect!

3.  Tory Burch Fitbit Wrap Bracelet.  I think these Tory Burch fitbit wrap bracelets are so dang cute!  However, the price tag on these is not so cute ($175 each).  I have many different color bands for my fitbit, but I'd really like a brown or tan one to add to my collection.

4.  Curling Wand.  I've seen so many great hair tutorials using curling wands, so I really want to get one and see how it works on my hair.

5.  Midi Rings.  I love the look of midi rings, but don't own any yet.  This set from Nordstrom is super cute, and is only $14!

6.  Detroit Tigers Shirt.  I have lots of cute Tigers t-shirts and tank tops, but  I don't have any cute long sleeve shirts or sweatshirts.  I'd love to add a couple to my closet for those chilly night games :)

7.  Stretch Headbands.  When I run or workout, I like wearing a headband to keep loose hairs out of my face and off my neck.  All of mine are getting pretty worn out/stretched out, so I'd love to add some new, cute ones to my collection!

What's on your Birthday Wish List this year??

Happy Birthday to My Husband!

Today is Kevin's birthday.  He's finally as old as me ;)  I'm six months older than him, and he never lets me forget it.  But for the next six months, we are are the same age: 27.

He says he doesn't read my blog, but just in case:

Happy Birthday babe!  I can't wait to spend 100 more birthdays with you.  I love you!

Birthday Wish List

Since my 27th birthday is a week from today, I thought I'd share some of the items on my wish list.  I've already asked my parents and my sister for a couple of the items.  When I was putting the list together, I realized that many of the items are fitness related.  I'm hoping some new fitness gear will keep me motivated!

Birthday Wish List

The bow tank top is just too cute.  I'd love some new, cute workout clothes.  I'd also love the yurbuds headphones.  My headphones are about 8 years old and I'm ready for new ones.  I can't wear the normal earbuds because they don't stay in my ears, but I've heard good things about the yurbuds.  A couple of my friends have the fitbit and the love it, so I'd love to get one and try it out.  My last fitness item on my wishlist is dumbbells.  I have 3lb and 5lb dumbbells, but I'd like to add 8lb and 10lb ones to my collection.

The other two items on my list are just for fun.  I'd love a pair of Sperrys, and these grey ones are so cute!  We currently have a patio set and a couple of chairs on our deck (you can see them HERE), but I'd love a lounge chair I can put out on the deck when I want to relax and sunbath.  I've heard these zero gravity chairs are amazing!

What's on your birthday wish list?

Birthday & Sister's Blog

Today I turn 26.  No big plans.  Working all day and then my parents are coming over to bring us dinner and watch the All-Star game.  Just a fun, relaxing night.

On another note, my sister just started her own blog!  It's called Kindergarten Krazy.  She's a kindergarten teacher and will be sharing fun stories about her students (kids say the funnies things!) and ideas she tries out in her classroom.  Go check it out here and show her some love!

My sister and I on my wedding day.
Later this week (maybe tomorrow) I'll be showing off some of our DIY wedding projects, so be sure to look for that :)
