Birthday Weekend

Saturday was my 29th birthday, and I made sure to celebrate all weekend long :)

Friday night we had a cook out at our house, which actually wasn't related at all to my birthday...it just ended up being one of the only nights we had free this summer to do it. We had about 20 people over and we ate, drank, played games, and hung out until late. It was a perfect night.

Since we were up late, Kevin and I slept in on Saturday, which was a great way to start my birthday. Then we headed to the Muskegon area for the day. I had planned on going to the beach, but it didn't really warm up until ate afternoon, and it was a little cloudy, so I just laid out on my parents' deck and soaked up the sun there. My mom made me my favorite meal for dinner (her homemade sloppy joes and macaroni & cheese). She also made me mini carrot cake cheesecakes for dessert, because carrot cake is my favorite. My mom is the best!

A few family members came over to hang out and celebrate and we ended up having a bon fire at my parents before we headed home.

Kevin and I went to lunch on Sunday to one of our favorite places in Grand Rapids: Houlihan's. Then we went and saw Secret Life of Pets. We were both disappointed in the movie. We thought it was going to be funnier than it was. It was ok, but not great. I was just happy to have a date day with my husband :)

Another great birthday in the books. Now I have a year to prepare myself for turning the big 3-0!

4th of July Weekend

I hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend! Ours was pretty great...except for the fact that our dog is terrified of fireworks, so that part wasn't too fun.

Kevin and I went out to dinner on Friday night to celebrate our anniversary. We went to a little Italian place that we had heard good things about, but neither of us had ever been to it. It did not disappoint! We ate way too much food and came home and passed out...we're getting old!

On Saturday, my mom and I spent the day at my Grandma's helping her with her yard sale and cleaning out her garage. It was a long day, but we got a lot done for her, so it was definitely productive. Not 5 minutes after we got home, Admiral heard fireworks, so he headed to the bathroom and got in the tub to try and hide. It was so sad! For some reason, he calms down if we go in the basement, so that's where we spent the rest of the night.

Sunday was my family's 4th of July party, so we headed to my Aunt & Uncle's house where we again, ate too much good food. We came home Sunday night and Kevin went and played cards with his friends, while Admiral and I spent the night in the basement since there were a bunch of fireworks.

The 4th was spent catching up blog reading (me), catching up on Game of Thrones (Kevin), yard work, laundry, cleaning, grilling, and of course, trying to calm a dog who hates fireworks.

How was your weekend? Did you spend time with family and friends? Did you eat too much food like we did?
