Oh Hey Friday!

I'm so happy the weekend is here!  I'm having a yard sale tomorrow so I've spent the past couple of nights getting ready for that.  I'm excited to get it over with and clear out the stuff that has been sitting in my garage.  Anyone else love the feeling of getting rid of stuff?  Well, without further delay, here are today's five:

ONE.  I haven't shared this news on the blog yet, but I got a new job!  I started this week and I am loving it!  I had only been at my last job for about 8 months, but it just wasn't where I wanted to be.  It's hard to explain, but it just didn't feel like the right fit for me.  So I decided to look for something else and this job worked out pretty quickly and I couldn't be happier.  I am now the Studio Manager for an advertising and design company.  It's only been 4 days, but it's going great so far!

TWO.  I've been saying that I have a great DIY to share, and it's true, I do.  However, I haven't been able to get any good pics of the finished product.  With softball just about every night, I've been missing the good daylight for photos.  I'm hoping to snap some pics this weekend and share it next week.

THREE.  I am obsessed with the show Fixer Upper on HGTV.  Anyone else?  Not only are Chip and Joanna Gaines the cutest people ever, but they do some AMAZING makeovers on houses.  And Joanna's decorating style is my favorite.  If you haven't seen the show, you should definitely check it out.

FOUR.  I've really been slacking on my running/working out and eating healthy.  I'm ready to get back on track.  My new job includes a gym membership, so I'm hoping that helps give me the jump start and motivation I need to get back in shape.

FIVE.  Does anyone else feel like summer is going by wayyyy too fast?  How is tomorrow August already??  Please let time slow down!!

Everyone should believe in something. I believe I should go to the beach. Click on this image to see the biggest selection of beach and ocean quotes!

Playing Catch Up

Last week was a little crazy and I didn't end up posting at all...life happens I guess.  So today I am catching you up with what I've been up to lately.

July 16 was my birthday and my amazing husband bought me a beautiful necklace and the Sperry's that I wanted.  We enjoyed a great dinner at Houlihan's the day after my birthday.

Last weekend some of my family arrived from Louisiana for the week and my parents had a cook out at their house.  We enjoyed way too much food, sun, and fun in the sprinkler's.  My mom made the cutest corn on the cob cupcakes for the party!

We also spent a day at the beach and the boys (my Godsons) LOVED it.

I did a fun little manicure using Jamberry nails.  And Admiral and I had a little selfie shoot in the car :)

Kevin and I played in a softball tournament this past weekend (we didn't do very well).  After the game on Friday night, we had my family over for pizza and enjoyed some time outside.

My friend Lindsey took me to the Painted Farmgirl, which is a vintage/antique/boutique type store and let me tell you, that place is dangerous!  I only came home with one thing, but I will definitely be back for more!  I picked up a cute metal "welcome" sign that I hung above the coat rack in our breezeway/sunroom and I love the way it looks!

I ended the week by picking up The Tonight Dough ice cream.  I've been looking for it and finally found it today and can't wait to try it!

So glad we are all caught up!  I have a couple of fun posts planned for this week (I mean it this time), so be on the look out for those.  What have you been up to over the past week?

Friday Five

Let's just get right to it today...

ONE.  Yesterday was my birthday.  I worked all day and then went out for dinner and drinks with my girlfriends (Kevin was out of town for work).  And tonight Kevin and I are going out to dinner to celebrate.  Remember the Sperry's I shared on my Birthday Wish List last week?  Well those showed up on my doorstep--good job Kevin!  But I'm not allowed to open them until we are together tonight haha

TWO.  I have family coming in to town this week from out of state and I can't wait to see them!  It's been too long!  Can't wait to see these crazy boys!!

THREE.  It's supposed to be 90+ degrees tomorrow, so I'm planning a beach day with my mom.  Can't wait to soak up some sun!

FOUR.  This week I shared the DIY tie rack that we made, and I have another fun DIY project to share next week--stay tuned!

FIVE.  It's a dark rainy day here today, so I think I will spend my morning curled up on the couch with a big cup of coffee.  What are you up to this weekend?

DIY Tie Rack

A few weeks ago (or maybe more than that now), I saw Craftaholics Anonymous post a picture of this DIY Tie Rack on Instagram, and I thought it would be PERFECT for our bedroom.  Kevin has lots of ties, and they were all hanging on an over the door hook in our bedroom.  It meant that all of the ties were stacked on top of each other.  It was hard to see them all, and then it was a mess trying to get one down.  He also had a couple of his belts on the hook too.

I showed Kevin the picture and he thought it was a great idea too.  So he headed to Lowe's to grab a couple pieces of wood, and he got to work!  He didn't read the tutorial, just went from the picture.  However, the instructions on Craftaholics Anonymous are great, so be sure to check those out HERE.

After Kevin put it together, I stained it using leftover stain from our coffee table makeover.  Then he hung it behind our door in our bedroom.  I LOVE how it turned out, and how much easier it is to see all of his ties, and pick the one he wants to wear that day.

I want to find a cute printable or something to put on the little ledge, but other than that, I think it is perfect!  When the door to the bedroom is open, it hides it, but yet it is easily accessible.  Such an easy and cheap DIY that made a big difference!

Customizable Jewelry from Anjolee

On Friday I shared my Birthday Wish List, with some ideas of things I would like for my birthday.   Today I'm sharing another great gift idea...beautiful jewelry from Anjolee.  The great thing about Anjolee is all of their pieces can be customized on Anjolee.com according to preference of metal type, diamond size, diamond/gemstone quality, and length/size.  It's a great gift idea for mom, sisters, friends, grandma's, etc.  Or pick out a few of your favorites and share the site with your significant other...hint, hint.  Speaking of significant other, Anjolee has some BEAUTIFUL diamond bridal sets that you can customize to your liking.

Two Rows of Diamonds Bridal Set
This set is one my favorites from their site.
Since I'm already married and am not in the market for a diamond bridal set, Anjolee sent me a pair of three stone hoop earrings.  (Anjolee only sells diamond and gemstone jewelry, but for my review, they created a sample in siliver with high quality cz's, since the gold and diamond versions are very expensive).  I love the size of the hoops.  They were small and dainty, which was perfect for me.  They are definitely a jewelry piece that I will wear a lot.

Have you ever ordered customizable jewelry from Anjolee?  Would you consider getting a diamond bridal set from Anjolee?

Anjolee.com sent me the earrings, but all opinions are my own.

Birthday Wish List

Since my birthday is next Thursday, I thought I would share my Birthday Wish List...you know, just in case anyone is in the giving mood :)

Birthday Wish List 2015

1.  Sperry Cherubfish Mariner Shoes.  I've wanted a pair of Sperry's for a while now, and I love these!  I already told my husband I wanted these, and they are on sale for $70 (instead of $90), so I'm hoping they show up for my birthday :)

2.  Kendra Scott 'Parker' Stud Earrings.  I need some cute gold stud earrings and I think these would be perfect!

3.  Tory Burch Fitbit Wrap Bracelet.  I think these Tory Burch fitbit wrap bracelets are so dang cute!  However, the price tag on these is not so cute ($175 each).  I have many different color bands for my fitbit, but I'd really like a brown or tan one to add to my collection.

4.  Curling Wand.  I've seen so many great hair tutorials using curling wands, so I really want to get one and see how it works on my hair.

5.  Midi Rings.  I love the look of midi rings, but don't own any yet.  This set from Nordstrom is super cute, and is only $14!

6.  Detroit Tigers Shirt.  I have lots of cute Tigers t-shirts and tank tops, but  I don't have any cute long sleeve shirts or sweatshirts.  I'd love to add a couple to my closet for those chilly night games :)

7.  Stretch Headbands.  When I run or workout, I like wearing a headband to keep loose hairs out of my face and off my neck.  All of mine are getting pretty worn out/stretched out, so I'd love to add some new, cute ones to my collection!

What's on your Birthday Wish List this year??

Weekend Recap: 4th of July in Detroit

Kevin and I spent 4th of July weekend in Detroit for the Tigers baseball games.  The mini-vacay was our anniversary present to each other.  We left Friday afternoon, checked in to our hotel, and then headed to the game.  We saw a great game that night--the Tigers pitcher (Sanchez) had a no-hitter going in to the 8th inning!  We stayed for the fireworks at the field that night and then headed back to the hotel.

Saturday morning we ate breakfast at the hotel and then headed to game.  We got free red, white, and blue Tigers hats at the game, and we saw another win!  After the game, we went back to the hotel to shower (we were hot, sweaty, and sticky from sunscreen) and then we ate dinner at our hotel before heading to the movies.  We saw Ted 2 and we both thought it was pretty funny.

Sunday morning we had breakfast at the hotel again, packed up our stuff, and headed to the game.  The game on Sunday didn't go as well as the previous two days (the Tigers lost), so we ended up leaving in the 6th inning so we could beat traffic and get home a little earlier.

It was a such a great weekend full of baseball, food, and sun!  We had a great time spending quality time together celebrating our two-year anniversary.  How did you spend your 4th of July weekend?

Friday, July 3, 2015

Oh Hey, Friday!

Let's just get right to it...

ONE.  Happy 4th of July weekend everyone!  I hope you all are able to celebrate with friends and family this weekend.  I LOVE this printable from The Contractor Chronicles--so true and so pretty.

TWO.  Thank you all so much for your sweet anniversary wishes on mine and Kevin's two year anniversary on Monday.  We didn't do gifts this year, because we decided to take a mini vacation instead.  Today we leave for Detroit, where we are going to the Tigers baseball games all weekend.  I'm so excited for a weekend away with my husband, filled with lots of sun, baseball, and yummy food!

THREE.  Last Sunday, Kevin and I joined two of our friends for a "Yard Games Olympics" charity event, and we had a blast!  There was ladder ball, corn hole, kan jam, a closest to the pin golf game, silent auctions, and good food.  Kevin and I were partners, and we ended up in 6th place, which we decided wasn't too bad.  Our friends took 2nd!  I would definitely do this again next year because we had so much fun.

FOUR.  Even though I love 4th of July weekend, Admiral hates it.  He hates fireworks. He shakes, pants, and wants to be cuddled when he hears them.  We usually end up going in the basement with him when he gets scared, because it's the only place he relaxes (like he can't hear them downstairs or something...).  Poor baby!

Cuddling in bed with his seal...dreading this weekend!

FIVE.  What are your plans for the weekend?  I would love to hear what you are up to!!
